West Aussies (myself included) are very parochial. I'm in NSW at the moment and I just got a text message asking me to work (back in Perth) on Sunday. Couldn't do it, because as I said, I'm "over east". It's a very black-and-white, us-and-them expression. Even South Australia counts as over east.

I'm just sad that I was born too late to consider Eastern-States-ers as "t'othersiders" (those from t' other side).

really? i never encountered that. i never felt it myself, either, possibly because the first person i ever met from Perth was Liz "Valeskah" Grzb, an extremely nice person.

@Nikolai_Kingsley I didn't mean it so much as in a not-nice way. If anything, it's a feeling of sometimes being ignored (like a middle child often says). Maybe it might be less noteable in the younger generations (I'm an X-er) thanks to the internet etc.

Or maybe I'm just talking out of my arse.
